Sustainable Development Goals

2030 AGENDA

The United Nations (UN) proposed 17 global goals, known as Sustainable Development Goals. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with their 169 targets, form the core of the 2000 Agenda, to be achieved around the world, and by all UN member states, by 2030.

Goal1:  END POVERTY IN ALL ITS FORMS EVERYWHERE (SDG1)

Some of the targets of SDG1 are: 

• Eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere

• Reduce at least by half the proportion of people living in poverty in all its dimensions

• Implement nationally appropriate social protection systems and measures for all

• Ensure that all the poor and the vulnerable, have equal rights to economic resources, and basic services

• Create pro-poor and gender sensitive policy frameworks at the national, regional and international levels

Goal2: END HUNGER, ACHIEVE FOOD SECURITY AND IMPROVED NUTRITION AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE (SDG2)

Some of the targets of SDG2 are: 

• End hunger and ensure access by all people

• End all forms of malnutrition

•Double the agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers (women, nating people, family farmers, pastoralists and fishers)

• Ensure sustainable food production systems: implement resilient agricultural practices

Goal3: ENSURE HEALTHY LIVES AND PROMOTE WELL-BEING

Some of the targets of SDG3 are:

• Reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births

End preventable deaths of new-borns and children under 5

End the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases Reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases

Halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents

Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services Support the research and development of vaccines and medicines for the diseases that primarily) affect developing countries

Gool 4 ENSURE INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE QUALITY EDUCATION AND PROMOTE LIFELONG LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL (SDG4)

Some of the targets of SDG4 are

Ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education Ensure that all have access to quality early childhood development and care

QUALITY EDUCATION

Ensure equal access for all to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university Eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education and

vocational training
