It is important that you try to distract yourself from your anxiety-provoking thoughts when it starts to feel like an attack is coming on. This can be done by taking a break, using coping statements, and reducing your physical symptoms. 

For example, if you're at work and feeling anxious about a meeting that's coming up, then try taking a break by going for a walk or calling a friend to help calm your nerves.
